Mrs. Rashawn Carter-Kamau, affectionately known as Ms. Shawn, is a passionate advocate for early childhood education with over 30 years of experience. She operates Growing Streams Learning House. She empowers childcare businesses globally as a consultant, curriculum developer, traveler and training coach in Kentucky and Missouri.
Raised in Kansas City, Missouri, Ms. Shawn began her journey in children’s Christian ministry, where she continues to impact various churches. As the vice president of the Career Center for Early Educators and a former executive board member of the National Childcare Owners Association, she has significantly influenced the childcare community. Her role as a mother of five and grandmother enriches her understanding of nurturing educational environments.
As a certified CDA Specialist and PM Trainer, Ms. Shawn creates engaging curricula aligned with Missouri's Early Learning Standards. She promotes parental involvement and operational excellence in childcare centers and is well-versed in various educational approaches. An active member of the American Montessori Society, she is also well-versed in multiple educational approaches.
With a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education Administration and plans for a Master’s and a PhD in Organizational Development and Leadership, Ms. Shawn’s commitment to holistic education shines through. She cultivates a loving atmosphere where children thrive, exemplifying her dedication to supporting families, educators, and the community.
